This Sunday will be the last for the News of the World. Rupert Murdoch and the News International Corporation announced yesterday that the paper was to close following the phone hacking scandal. Hundreds of people (not associated with the scandal) have lost their jobs, all to save one - Rebekah Brooks.
Murdoch has wanted to close the News of the World since the 80s; on Tuesday the domain names sundaysun.com and co.uk were registered, in readiness to launch the first seven day newspaper. So although on the surface it may look like a brave stance by the Murdoch machine, dig a little deeper.
