Blogging: What do you think?

Q. What are the barriers stopping companies blogging and how can they be encouraged?

This question was posed by digital marketing website, Smart Insights, and it got us thinking. In terms of a social media strategy, blogging is key. It’s a direct way to communicate with customers, gives a brand personality, authority and offers insight into how a business thinks. It’s not as interactive or fast paced as the likes of Twitter and Facebook, and is far easier to manage. But so few companies do it well, many shy away entirely.

Why? Is it lack of confidence, legal worries or just fear of the unknown? We’d like to know what you think - if you do it and if you don’t why not.
